HORSEHEADS — It was a very heartfelt homecoming Thursday night for Elmira’s own Olympian, Molly Huddle.
Hundreds of area residents, from children and local athletes to senior citizens in wheelchairs, filled the dining room of Appleridge Senior Living in Horseheads with hometown pride.
Kudos came from politicians and the former principal of her high school. Elmira’s own harmonica duo, the Sgro Brothers, played the “Notre Dame Victory March” before her appearance, fitting for an All-American athlete at Notre Dame High School in Elmira and the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
