(22 – JUNE) – Two-time NCAA champion Eric Jenkins of Oregon has signed a professional sponsorship contract with Nike and will be managed by Flynn Sports Management. The 23-year-old is coming off two runner-up finishes at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon on June 10-13.
“I’m very excited and lucky to be with Flynn Sports and Nike! Grateful for the support and opportunity to see how far I can take it.”
Jenkins will debut for Nike at the 2015 U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, where he will race the in 5,000-meter run.
The Portsmouth, New Hampshire native made the most of his time at the University of Oregon after transferring from Northeastern University. With the Ducks, Jenkins finished second overall at the NCAA Cross-Country National Championship only behind teammate Edward Cheserek in November. During the indoor season, he captured the 2015 NCAA indoor championship crown in the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter run.
Among Jenkins’ most memorable races in an Oregon uniform is his 7:44.91 3,000-meter run at the 2015 Millrose Games on Feb. 14, where he just barely missed former Oregon Duck Galen Rupp’s American collegiate record of 7:44.69.
While with Northeastern, Jenkins was an All-American at the 5,000-meter run and four-time Colonial Athletic Association champion. He was the NCAA’s second fastest in 2013 at the 5,000-meter distance with a 13:18.57 run at the Payton Jordan Invitational.
Jenkins’ focus now shifts to preparing for the U.S. Championship and qualifying for the 2015 IAAF World Championship in Beijing and 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
