Flynn Sports signee, Cristian Soratos, signs endorsement contract with Adidas

(24 – JUNE) – Cristian Soratos of Montana State has signed a professional sponsorship contract with adidas. The 22-year-old is coming off a breakout senior season for the Bobcats, where he was a runner-up in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas and finalist in the 1,500-meter run at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

“I can’t quite put into words what this means to me,” Soratos said. “I’m beyond thankful to have this opportunity to run for a top company like adidas and to continue to do what I love to do. It’s truly a blessing to be where I am from where I started. This is the beginning of something new and I’m excited to see what the future holds.”

Soratos will debut for adidas at the 2015 U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, where he will race the in 1,500-meter run.

Soratos stunned many as he ran an NCAA leading 4:05.18 mile at altitude and on a 200-meter track, which converts the time to a 3:56 mile. Soratos backed up his performance with  a 3:55.27 win at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Washington.

Soratos went into the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship as a favorite to contend for the individual crown. He pushed the pace in the middle of the race to leave the race to a one-on-one battle with Oregon’s Edward Cheserek. Soratos finished second, but his All-American effort and mid-race push showed fearless race tactics going into the outdoor season.

The Salina, California native holds the Montana State record in the 1,500-meter run and 800-meter run for outdoor track. He set a personal best of 3:39.68 in the 1,500-meter run at the Payton Jordan Invitational at Stanford on May 2.

Soratos flew under the radar at Montana State after transferring from Hartnell Community College. Finally being healthy contributed to the fast performances seen throughout the NCAA season.

Soratos’ focus now shifts to preparing for the U.S. Championship and qualifying for the 2015 IAAF World Championship in Beijing and 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
