Get To Know: Eric Avila

Hoka One One and Flynn Sports Athlete, Eric Avila, has had an interesting journey. From a California high school star, to D1 college dropout, to sponsored professional runner graduating from small NAIA school, Southern Oregon, Eric has had his highs and lows. For more on his journey visit this great runnersworld piece by Alison Wade (http://www.runnersworld.com/elite-runners/from-manual-laborer-to-356-miler).

But how well do we really know Eric? Here’s 7 burning questions we’d all like to know…enjoy

  1. If you were stuck on a desert island and had to bring 3 things what would they be? A Pocket Knife, The Cast of Lost, and A pair of Hoke One One Huakas.
  2. What was the last song played on your ipod/itunes? Dizzee Rascal – I don’t need a reason
  3. Last meal on earth..what would it be? Carne Asada fries – Lolitas Taco Shop (San Diego). It’s down the road from the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, a must try if any athletes are down that way.
  4. Who would play Eric Avila in a movie? If Jason Segal and Paul Walker had a son, he’d play me in a movie. I threw Paul Walker in there to guarantee the guy playing me was at least slightly a stud.
  5. Is it true that the West Coast, is in fact, the best coast? It doesn’t help that I’ve never really been to the east coast, unless you count 8th grade school trip. But after Ohio States Victory tonight, I’m sure the Midwest would like to chime in on this question as well. In terms of Major running companies, Hoka One One, Nike, Adidas, Brooks etc. all have their Major Offices based on the West Coast. Maybe they know something we don’t. Born and Raised on the West coast leaves me with one choice, West Coast best Coast!
  6. Best Xmas present you received over the holidays? English – French Press. Getting an XboxOne was a close second, but a good cup of coffee is hard to beat.
  7. Do you have a new years resolution? I’m really interested in the Stock Market/Investing, I might finally take the dive there. One of my roommates has the LOTR Book set, I’ve never read through a book series before and am a big LOTR fan, so I am planning to give that a go.
