Flotrack's Best of 2011 - Performance of the Year!
Jenny Simpson becomes the first American women to win the 1500m gold medal since Mary Decker-Slaney in 1983. Simpson was not the favorite on paper at the 2011 Track & Field World Championships, but ran comfortable through the rounds and put herself in position over the final 300 meters of the race. This is Simpson's first international medal and now looks to be one of the favorites for gold as we head into the 2012 Olympic Games!
